Joshua C. Blank obtained a B.A. Hon. (History) and B.Ed. at the University of Ottawa before moving to Carleton University for the M.A. (History) and Ph.D. (Canadian Studies) programs. He is the author of a children's book, Ask My Grandpa (Wilno Heritage Society, 2012), and author/editor of Sto Lat: One Hundred Years of Faith at St. Hedwig's Parish (2014). His most recent book is Creating Kashubia: History, Identity and Memory in Canada’s First Polish Community (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2016) and his articles have appeared in several newspapers as well as Historical Studies and Polish American Studies. “Stills in the Hills: Moonshine Memories from Around Canada's First Polish Kashub Community,” a 2019 contribution to the latter, received the Swastek Prize. Another article, "Thrifty Trustees, Curriculum Clashes and Gender Disparities: Late 19th and Early 20th Century Barriers in Education in Rural Renfrew County", was accepted for the Spring 2021 issue of Historical Studies in Education. Blank has also been featured in Opeongo Line podcasts with the former Minister of Education, Sean Conway. Currently, he teaches history and law at St. Francis Xavier High School in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada where he also coaches the varsity baseball team.
