IWONA FLIS
Iwona Flis is a PhD student at the University of Gdansk, Faculty of History, under Dr. Anna Mazurkiewicz. She has been working on her dissertation on the history of the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences of America. She has written and collaborated on numerous publications and has presented internationally on various topics, including Polish Diaspora organizations, community archives, and émigré women scholars. Founder and president of the “Pomerania Archives” Foundation, she has led numerous educational projects in history and archival science for community archives and non-governmental organizations in Poland. She also serves on the board of the Gdańsk chapter of the Polish Archivists Association. She has received the Kościuszko Foundation scholarship in 2021-2022 and PAHA’s Emerging Scholar Travel Award for 2023. Her involvement with PAHA began in 2021, and she has already served on the Board of Directors as a Council Member in 2023-2024. She has contributed to PAHA through her work on indexes to the CCSU’s scanned PAHA Newsletter, assisting in the PAHA NEH grant submission, and in our Objects That Speak project.
